in delivering the services under their contract
                                                  with BHP.

                                                  Metrics matter

In 2019, we introduced an online tool to our Australian supply
partners to make it even easier for them to support our
journey to become more inclusive and diverse.
The tool allows BHP to collect and track consistent local
and Indigenous procurement and diversity metrics from
its contracting partners across Australia, including female
employment, local and Indigenous employment, local spend,
number of local/Indigenous vendors in the system.
The data feeds into internal and external reporting, and tracks
against contract incentives, tender evaluation criteria, as
well as BHP’s priorities and its other commitments, such as
the BHP Reconciliation Action Plan. Importantly, the metrics
help to easily recognise and reward supply partners who have
embedded BHP’s values and are making a positive inclusion
and diversity impact in the communities where they operate.
